Apos treatments available at Tracey Miles Physio near Canterbury Kent

The Apos® treatment was developed by orthopaedic doctors and is based around a unique individually-adjusted device that is worn on the foot for around an hour a day whilst going about normal daily activities. This makes the Apos® treatment programme an effective and highly convenient option.  The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence recommends Apos® as a clinically effective treatment for patients with knee osteoarthritis.

The Apos® treatment works by bringing your body into optimal alignment, thus reducing the pressure and strain on painful areas in the joint. As you walk, it stimulates and retrains your muscles, ultimately re-educating your body to adopt a corrected and less painful walking style, even when you are not wearing the device.

Who is Apos® for?

The Apos® treatment programme is an effective and highly convenient option for those suffering from knee pain, back pain or other musculoskeletal disorders. Over 100,000 patients have been treated worldwide. It is designed to treat long-standing problems in the main weight-bearing joints - that is the ankle, knee, hip and lower back and is most suitable for those who have exhausted all other treatment options such as medication, Physiotherapy, Podiatry or similar therapies. You may have tried these options but only had limited relief. Many patients embarking on the treatment programme are seeking to avoid or delay surgical intervention.

Conditions we treat regularly include:

  • Osteoarthritis- ankle, knee, hip, back
  • Ligament injuries to the knee and ankle
  • Lower limb fractures
  • Rehabilitation before or after replacement surgery
  • Low Back Pain
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Sports Injury rehabilitation

Not all patients are suitable for Apos® and patients who have fallen regularly or who have conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus or severe Osteoporosis, are unlikely to be suitable.

The initial consultation is always free of charge to allow us to assess your suitability for treatment. If you are found to be suitable and you elect to continue, the cost of the Apos® initial plan is £1750 and includes:

· digitised gait assessment

· a pair of calibrated boots

· 3 follow ups with qualified clinician over 12 months

· all replacement parts and 2 year warranty of the boots

WPA, Cigna and The Exeter insurance companies have direct settlement arrangements for AposHealth® treatment.  Prior to admission, you must contact your insurer to confirm that your policy covers Apos® and to receive a pre-authorisation code for the treatment.
